About Seaford Choral Society | The friendly Seaford Choir

Seaford Choral Society is the friendly Seaford Choir, rehearsing on Monday evenings and singing a varied and exciting repertoire of sacred and secular music from baroque to contemporary. Led by our amazing musical director Veronica Fewkes, we give concerts three times a year, often with professional musicians

Rehearsals take place at Seaford Baptist Church on Monday evenings. If you are interested in joining us, please see have a look at our “Sing With Us” page here: https://www.seaford-choral-society.com/sing-with-us

The Society was established in 1917 and has flourished since then, albeit in various guises, and now has about 80 members. Our repertoire includes Masses by Mozart, Haydn and Brahms as well as more modern composers such as Rutter and Finzi.  We have also sung some exciting non-sacred works.

We give three performances a year, Spring, Summer and Autumn, as well as an ‘Almost Instant’ concert on Good Friday, when we invite any who wish to join us for a performance of a popular sacred work in aid of a charity nominated by the Vicar and officials of St Leonard’s.

We are always interested to hear from potential new members. We rehearse each Monday evening at Seaford Baptist Church, Belgrave Road, Seaford. If you would like more information about joining us, please send an email to enquiries@seaford-choral-society.com

The Choir is kindly supported by Newberry Tully Estate Agents who also sell concert tickets on our behalf (see below).

Charitable Donations and ‘Friends’

As a registered charity, we are proud to be able to raise money for local Seaford based worthy causes. Charities we donate to are chosen by the Committee on an annual basis and local representatives are invited to collect a retiring collection following our concerts. The proceeds of the annual Almost Instant concert are donated to a charity often chosen by the people of  St Leonard’s Church.

Each year we raise around £1000 for local charities. In recent years, the Society has made donations to Youth Counselling Project, Macread Youth Centre, ‘Waves’ of Seaford, Seahaven Storehouse, Beachy Head Chaplains, and The Seaford Carers Support Group (The Alzheimers Society). There is further information elsewhere on the website regarding these donations.

On behalf of the Society we would like to sincerely thank all those people and organisations who assist us each year, especially local organisations, shopkeepers, Churches, and particularly Fran Tegg, the editor of Seaford Scene who regularly publish and display our publicity material for the Concerts.
